About the Inn

Colonel Willard Blackinton was a prominent industrialist and financier in America's early days. The colonel was born in 1800, son of William Blackinton, an early settler of the Attleboro area.

In 1850, Blackinton commissioned a home to be built for his two sons and their families. The greek revival style was a favorite of the time, reflecting the elegance and stately homes constructed in the mid 19th century. The Colonel Blackinton Inn was created by skilled craftsmen who used hand-hewn timbers of oak, held in place by wooden pegs. The historic inn is listed by the Massachusetts Historical Commission and with the National Register of Historic Places, proudly taking its place in the company of some of the finest historical homes in New England.

The Colonel Blackinton Inn houses four small dining rooms, a tavern and a sunny garden terrace where you'll find dining and live music every Summer. The Carriage House, across the terrace, is the perfect place to host events for up to 55 people. We can host your private parties, conferences and business meetings. We also have eleven guest rooms for anyone visiting from out of town, in town for business, or just wanting to get away for a relaxing night. For more information, see our Business/Corporate Events section or contact us.
